What is Podcasting?
Podcasting is more than
some audio files on Internet. Podcasting is more than radio. Podcasting is a
new phenomenon that has created tremendous interest in millions of people. The
use of podcasting is widespread. There are no age, gender, geography or genre
limits.
Podcasting provides tremendous freedom of choice to the listeners. The listener
can choose what, when and how he/she wants to listen. At the same time
podcasting provides the communicator or the podcaster a limitless reach. That
means the pocaster can have listeners from every corner of the world as well as
the immediate neighborhood without extra cost or restrictions.
Audiences can listen or subscribe to Podcasting programs
using Internet. After selecting their favorite program (podcast), using
podcasting client software, audiences can have podcasts downloaded automatically
to their computers and optionally to their iPod or portable MP3 player whenever
new (podcast) programs become available.
It is
a new convenience. Listeners who miss favorite shows or programs can download
the programs and catch up with them on their weekend jog. Basically, podcasting
gives you what you want when you're ready to listen, Kind of similar to TiVo --
and it's free for the listener.
