Troubleshooting for playing video on your computer
Live broadcast vs. archive:
We provide two types of broadcasts. The first type is a live broadcast. For the
live broadcast you must access them during the time the service is actually
occurring. The second broadcast type is video on demand or archives. These
programs can be accessed two hours after the live program and are viewable 24
hours a day 7 days a week.
You need to download Microsoft Windows Media Player (WMP). To do so you can go
to the church website, select Archive video page, at the bottom of the page last
sentence guide you to the right website to download the WMP. It is automated and
rather fast( it should take only a few minutes depending on your bandwidth
speed).
How can you tell what version of Windows you have? When your computer is on,
click “start” select “my computer” select “help” and select “ about windows”
Video issues:
Video is poor or jittery. When viewed with slower modems or when
Internet congestion occurs, delays or temporary stoppages in audio and video
play are normal. The computer will pick up where it left off after re-buffering
the transmission.
Jittery video is a normal effect when broadcasting video over the Internet if
the end viewer has a slow Internet connection.
Buffering issues:
No Audio or Video is playing. Audio and video should begin to play
in less than two minutes after selecting your service.
When viewed with slower bandwidth (modems) or when Internet congestion occurs,
delays or temporary stoppages in audio and video are normal. The computer will
pick up where it left off after re-buffering the transmission.
You may want to exit and come back at a time with less congestion.
No audio:
If you have separate speakers, make sure that they are “on” and volume is not
set to low or mute.
If your system does have a sound card, check to make sure that your speakers are
firmly plugged in and turned on.
Next go to your windows volume control area by Clicking on the start button and
selecting programs from the menu. From the next menu select accessories and then
select entertainment. Select volume control from the entertainment menu. Make
sure your Wave is at the highest and adjust the master volume accordingly. Also
make sure that your wave/direct sound input or your play control inputs are not
muted. Muted inputs will be identified with a check mark.
If your speakers are inside your monitor or they are separate units then they
may have additional volume control that may impact the audio level.
Audio sounds distorted:
The distortion occurs because your audio input levels are set to high.
Your Windows system is equipped with a volume control that displays input
levels. Click on the start button and select programs from the menu. From the
next menu select accessories and then select entertainment. Select volume
control from the entertainment menu. Check to see if ‘red’ bars are appearing
indicating your input level is active. Check to make sure this level is not set
too high or to low. If you have the type of Windows volume control, with input
indicator, adjust the sliders down until the input is not driven into the ‘red’
or to low in the green.

Steps for a better viewing result
1) If your windows media player version is less than version 9
(see “how to tell your windows media player version”):
a. If you want to keep your current
version, then place your mouse point on the broadcast image and “right click”
(press the right key on your mouse), select zoom and then select 100%. This will
make the viewing window smaller but clearer.
b. If you have a DSL or cable and you
would like to upgrade your current version to version 9 click here and follow
the instructions (see the minimum requirement before upgrading to version9.) If
your system meets the minimum requirements, then it is suggested to upgrade to
windows media player version 9, you will have a much-improved viewing
experience.
2) If your windows media player version is version 9, then place your mouse
point on the broadcast image and “right click” (press the right key on your
mouse), select zoom, and then select full screen. This will make your viewing
window the size of you full screen. The full screen will make it easier to view
the service, if you have more than one person gathered around the computer.
HOW TO TELL YOUR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER’S VERSION
Place your mouse point on the broadcast image and “right click” (press the
right key on your mouse), select “About”. A small window will open and will
indicate the version of your windows media player.
